What to Expect From Our Time TOgether
"The Little Black Barn"
Located just outside the Harrisonburg city limits, our space is small, but impactful. Dark and dramatic, yet nestled in a light-filled sanctuary of fruit trees, grape vines, berries and wild herbs. It's a space for healing. A space for writing. A space for creating and a space for sharing!

Our space is designed for listening and being heard, for seeing and understanding, and for the freedom to express, without judgment. It is also a space for transformation, creation and release. Our clients may choose to sit at our harvest table with us over a cup of tea, or on the floor on Yoga mats and bolsters and blankets. We can move in the space as our bodies require, or we can walk around the property and sit among the herbs, trees and brambles.

The Time & Format of Our Sessions
Our standard Consultation Package is 3 sessions, 60 minutes each, 1 to 2 weeks apart. Most clients appreciate this format for getting clear on goals, identifying wellness values, discussing options, implementing new practices, herbs and lifestyle changes, then checking back in for reflection and feedback. We are happy to continue sessions beyond the third session, especially if we are working with herbs and dietary changes or teaching at home herbal medicine making. However, our Natural Lifestyle Design method is simple, profoundly transformational, and you'll NEVER forget how to do it, once you've been through it just one time!
The work we do together in just three sessions will truly serve you for a lifetime!
How we can serve you
We work to restore balance in the mind, body & spirit. We do this by assessing the tissue states of the body,

We offer options for rebalancing through Yoga, herbs, dietary changes, energy work, lifestyle changes and collaboration.

We share philosophies, spiritual concepts and practices from many backgrounds, religions and cultures, with permission and credit.

We teach our clients to be as self-sufficient and empowered as possible around their own wellness, from maintaining health and vitality through natural living, and by self-advocating when in traditional medical health facilities and settings.

We guide our clients toward their own answers, to what's most important to them, based on their own needs and values.
What we don't do
We DO NOT treat disease.

We DO NOT substitute herbs for prescription medications without collaboration with your healthcare practitioner.

We DO NOT assert our worldview as fact, or present ourselves as Gurus, shamans or healers.

We DO NOT encourage our clients to go out and buy unnecessary or unsustainable supplies and equipment, and we DO NOT encourage our clients to give up their Western medicine practitioners and wisdom.

We DO NOT tell our clients what to do, how to live, or offer easy answers! While our methods are simple, the work is worth doing from the roots up.

Jen Tullo
Bioregional Herbalist
Jen is devoted to working with plant medicines that are native, naturalized and grown in this region, both as a means to restore balance in minds and bodies, and as her life's purpose to restore human relationship with the wild and natural world, of which we are a part. Jen has had many herbal teachers who have inspired, including the plants themselves, but Kat Maier was her first human teacher, and certainly the most influential in the arts of listening and "holding space" for others' healing. Heather Wetzel's teachings and private practice were also vital in Jen's own healing journey and foundational to her home apothecary work. Early wild guides include Oak, Dogwood and Pine, as well as Chicory root and flower, Rosemary, Rose and Lemon Balm.

Energy Worker
Jen has developed an intuitive energy practice that is informed by many traditions, but relies heavily on her subtle sense perception, her ability to read people and places, and her own experience and relationship with energy. She holds space for whole person relaxation and restoration, using a blend of light touch and palm-reception along energy boundaries, to help facilitate a calm and healing environment. Often this work is blended with herbal preparations, music, assisted Yoga and breathwork.
